In Meeting, A Chance for A Regional Approach

Today, President Barack Obama meets with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after weeks of speculation about how the two countries will address the threat of Iran potentially obtaining nuclear weapons, and with little expectation for progress on Israeli-Palestinian peacemaking.  However, the Iranian threat – coupled with the historic changes of governments across the Middle East – could actually serve as a strategic opportunity for these leaders to address Iran while advancing regional democratic efforts alongside Israeli-Palestinian peace.

AB Yehoshua: Jew, Zionist, Israeli - A Clarification of Terms

On Friday, April 17, Israel Policy Forum and the Middle East Institute hosted renowned Israeli author AB Yehoshua to discuss and define three concepts of identity: Jew, Israeli, Zionist.

As Yehoshua commented, "I was amazed that three leaders of my party Meretz - Shulamit Aloni, Yossi Sarid, and Yossi Beilin - had different definitions of what is a Jew, an Israeli, a Zionist. I, therefore, started a campaign to provide an objective definition of each term."
